Aqualyx

Dissolve localised fat deposits simply and safely with Aqualyx.

The human body naturally stores fat (subcutaneous fat) in order to supply energy in times of restraint. Everybody distributes the subcutaneous body fat by a genetically determined pattern. In almost all cases this inherent distribution cannot be remedied by a special diet or increased physical exercise.

Aqualyx is a hydrous, micro-gelatinous solution which contains active substance desoxychol acid, a secondary bile acid. Desoxychol acid is a naturally occuring acid within the human body that has an essential function concerning the digestion of fat.
Aqualyx treatments consist of injecting the solution into localised fat deposits in areas such as saddle bags, thighs, stomachs, chins and knees. It can also be used to treat pseudo-gynocomastia in men. Aqualyx® liquefies the fat cell, destroying it permanently, releasing the lipids that are then eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system.
The treatment will be performed by aesthetic nurse practitioner, Diane Plummer RGN (BSc) Hons Dip HE INP who has undergone specialist training using a specially designed long flexible cannula. Typically, two injection spots are required for each area being treated. After each treatment patients can expect some swelling, redness and skin irritation and tenderness in the area treated, which will subside after four to eight days.
Aqualyx treatment is used to reduce localised, stubborn fat deposits in areas such as the upper arms, armpits, waist, hips, saddle bags, knees, buttocks, chest, stomach, outer and inner thighs.
A reduction in fat deposits can be seen after just one treatment, however between three and eight sessions are required to see the optimal effect. The speed at which results are seen will vary depending on the stability of the cell membranes; younger patients are more likely to see results after a longer period.
It is suitable for patients who do not want the more invasive liposuction or laser lipo treatments, who do not have large amounts of fat to remove and who are over 18 years and under 60 years of age. The treatment is not suitable for pregnant or lactating women, those with a pathological condition, lipodystrophy, patients with allergies against one or more of the contained components, patients with a medical history including anaphylactic reactions or severe allergies, patients with acute or chronic skin diseases and patients with severe organic diseases.
No, Aqualyx treatments are aimed at reducing stubborn pockets of fat which cannot be remedied by a special diet or increased physical exercise.
Minimal side effects have been reported globally since its introduction, but patients can expect a little skin irritation / reddening which can last from a few hours to a few days, bruising and oedema (swelling) which can last between 4 to 8 days. Minor aches and pains seldom occur and in rare cases minor subcutaneous rigidification.
Aqualyx® is the only licensed product available for intralipotherapy with a registered medical CE mark in Europe.
Developed by renowned aesthetic surgeon the late Professor Motolese, Aqualyx® has been available internationally since 2009, and over 2,000,000 vials have been used for patient treatments in 49 countries worldwide.
Patients report good tolerance of the treatment, an anaesthetic solution can be added prior to injection for greater comfort.
The treatment will be repeated between two and eight times depending on the number of small pockets of fat tissue to be reduced. The injections are then repeated every three to four weeks.
The treated area should not be exposed to direct heat (sauna, sun, etc) or severe cold. Physical exercise should be avoided for about 4 to 5 days. Application of cosmetics to the treated area should be avoided for at least 12 hours. Intake of ant-inflammatory drugs (ibuprofen, etc) should be avoided. Bruising and swelling may develop within the treated area, itching and burning sensations as well as a feeling of pressure and minor aches and pains may occur.
